About Our Founder
Martin Quinn is a native of Bansha, Co. Tipperary, and is one of 7 children of Laurence (Larry) Quinn of Fihertagh, Bansha, and Mary (nee Breen), formerly Garryshane, Donohill.
Martin's father was a noted hurler and footballer, having played for the Tipperary Junior Hurling Team and the Galtee Rovers GAA Club. Larry was also a member of the original team of umpires for one of the country’s top referees, John Moloney.
Martin's mother was involved in amateur dramatics and prominent in ICA and other community organisations.
Martin followed his parents into community life and has been active in a wide range of voluntary activities at the local, county and national levels. He followed in the footsteps of Canon John Hayes in becoming National President of Muintir Na Tíre from 2008-2011, as well as serving two terms as Chair of South Tipperary (LEADER) Development Co. (2010-2016).
Martin is Chair of North Munster Citizens Information Service (covering counties Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford & Clare) and is Hon. Secretary of the Tipperary Peace Convention and the internationally recognised Tipperary Intl Peace Award. He is a member of the Public Advisory Board for the PPI Ignite Network and a number of different research bodies.
A stroke survivor, he is a leading advocate and speaker with the Irish Heart Foundation and a member of the Governance Committee of the Irish National Audit of Stroke. He has given many years of service to the Canon Hayes Sports Centre and the organisation and presentation of the Canon Hayes National Sports Awards. He is a former GAA referee and officer at club and county level. He was recognised with a Volunteer in Sport Award by the Federation of Irish Sport in November 2019 and was Honoured in 2012 as Tipperary Person of the Year by the Tipperary Association Dublin. He has two daughters, Samantha and Lorna.
